Bernice Tayler
President and Founder
Born and raised in South Africa, but a Georgia girl since 2007. Bernice has over 13 years of experience in insurance and financial services and loves doing work that helps families have peace of mind during their retirement years.
Bernice believes that honesty, integrity, and the truth are more important than anything and her objective is to help clients eliminate as much confusion as possible in planning their financial future.
Gateway Financial Group, LLC and Bernice Tayler are very diligent in helping their customers achieve their long-term financial objective. Bernice believes everyone should have someone with honesty, integrity and a commitment to help make things simpler and less complicated.
Bernice is the proud mother of one son, Jayd, who together with her daughter-in-law, Natalie, have given her the best gift ever, two beautiful grandsons, Aidan and Jesse. Bernice loves to travel and spend time with her loved ones.

Benai Harrison
Office Manager
As Office Manager at Gateway Financial, Benai manages daily business operations, services our clients’ accounts, and works closely alongside Bernice to ensure that our clients’ needs are met with seamless delivery. Along with her strong organizational skills, Benai has a passion for helping others and enjoys building strong relationships. She took this position to build upon her previous knowledge and experience in payroll, client services, and finance.
Benai is grateful to work for a company that values community, fosters a positive and inclusive environment, and allows her to collaborate with others. She appreciates working closely with a small team that feels like family. She’s thoughtful, considerate, kind, and always looks out for the client’s best interest.
Benai lives in Grovetown, GA with her husband and two dogs, Bruno, an American Bully and Penelope, an American Bulldog. Benai has participated in The Augusta Half Ironman, in 2013 and 2018, and in 2019 she also participated in Cycle for the Cause, which was a 275-mile bike ride from Boston, MA to NYC, to help raise money and bring awareness for AIDS.

Monica Camay
Client Services Manager
Monica joined Gateway Financial in 2022. In her role as Client Services Manager, she is responsible for keeping their tracking log up to date so the client’s annuities are completed in a timely and accurate manner, addressing possible annual reviews, and ensuring that any other needs and compliance requirements for clients are being met. Monica reaches out to clients to keep them up to date with the status of their transfer and Policies. She also manages incoming annuity premiums to verify funding is moving accurately.
Monica enjoys being able to connect with different people and provide a highly beneficial service. She enjoys knowing that they are helping people secure a comfortable life for themselves or their loved ones. Monica believes what makes Gateway Financial different from other firms is that they are Family. They love, respect and trust in one another, and extend that sense of family on to clients.
Monica gained a wealth of knowledge and experience from a two year college course and Art School courses, but knew her strength was being hands on in the workforce. She credits her previous positions for building strong customer service skills, the ability to work in fast paced environments, and a greater sense of self.
Described as confident, self-assured, loving and loyal, Monica lives in Marietta, Georgia with her husband, two boys and a dog. When not working with clients, she enjoys spending time with her boys, such as watching shows and playing soccer and putt putt, as well as tending to her gardens.

Alexis Cohan
Events and Scheduling Manager
As the Events and Scheduling Manager at Gateway Financial, Alexis is responsible for planning and organizing the events that we hold throughout the year, which include seminars, client appreciation events and educational programs. She is also responsible for scheduling meetings for anyone who wants to meet with Bernice.
Alexis brought her passion for bringing people together and her excellent planning and organizational skills to Gateway Financial. She finds fulfillment in outreach efforts that help build connections within the community and strengthen relationships. As a highly motivated team member, she appreciates being part of an inclusive work environment with a strong sense of teamwork and mutual respect. Alexis is caring, welcoming, and naturally connects with others. She’s also hardworking and always strives to do her best, whether in her work or personal goals.
Outside of work, she has a passion for travel and music. Alexis has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Methodist University and 16 years of experience playing clarinet. She also previously taught high school band in South Carolina for 5 years. As a part-time travel agent, Alexis loves helping others plan unforgettable vacations, especially when she gets the opportunity to experience these destinations herself. She also, of course, enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, her boyfriend, and their dog (a beagle named Penny Lane).

Julia Mezzacapo
Client Services Assistant
Julia is the Client Services Assistant at Gateway Financial, and she is the first voice and face of the company. She supports various office activities, including handling customer inquiries, managing client records, assisting with administrative tasks, and helping ensure smooth operations and strong client relationships.
Prior to coming to work with us, Julia previously worked in Staffing and Talent Acquisition in various roles. She was drawn to this position, however, because it seemed to ‘check all the boxes’ she was looking for. For Julia, Gateway Financial Group offered an opportunity to grow her professional skills while contributing to a team that values collaboration and innovation. So far, in her time with Gateway Financial Group, she’s had the opportunity to watch management interact one-on-one with clients, which made it clear to her that here, we’re not just providing financial services: we also care about getting to know our clients, and their overall well-being. Julia loves that her role here grants her the opportunity to meet new people and learn about their different backgrounds.
Julia is dependable, easy to get along with, and brings a calm, positive attitude to any situation. She’s the kind of person you can count on for support, honest advice, or a well-timed joke when things get stressful. She’s happiest when outdoors, meeting up with her friends for coffee,
listening to music, or curled up with a good book: she enjoys reading almost any genre.
